Andersen Window Balancers

If you have andersen double hung narroline windows that were manufactured between 1968 and 2012 that will not open or stay open then the sash balances may be broken and need to be replaced.

You need to know the visible glass size width and height of the lower sash to identify the balancer number. Andersen has a chart for identifying which balancer to order. Size 837 can be used to replace 823 827 and 831. Match your windows lower sash visible glass size width height to the chart works with perma shield narroline double hung windows manufactured from 1968 to present.

The andersen 200 series perma shield narroline window balancer is located above the upper sash head jamb liner. Each window has two balancers i recommend replacing both even if only one is broken. We recommend that you replace both balancers along with the window side jamb liners. Andersen replacement sash balancer is used on narroline double hung windows manufactured from 1968 to 2012.

A balancer or window counter balance maintains the position of your window sash. Used with 1852 1856 even 2042 2046 24310 2832 and 30210 units with tempered glass. The balancer number is a code for the tension and the cord length. Used with 2056 even 2452 2842 2846 30310 3432 and 38210 units with non tempered glass.

Unlike most other window manufacturers andersen typically uses a unique type of counterbalance commonly referred to as an andersen sash balance. All my windows use the 939 narroline.
